Children’s Palliative Care Education Standard Framework and Self-Audit Tool
The Children’s Palliative Care Education and Training United Kingdom and Ireland Education Standard Framework and Self audit tool was developed in 2019-20 to standardise children’s palliative care learning. The documents were developed by The Action Group which comprises champions from Institutes of Higher Education, clinical practice and 3rd sector allied organisations.
The framework is not intended to regulate or limit education programmes, but to provide a framework which we hope educationalists will want to use to coordinate and quality assure their programmes. The framework extends across four levels: Public Health, Universal, Core, Specialist, and has been developed for use across all learning delivery settings and disciplines. A self-audit tool has been developed to enable programme leads to evaluate their course.
More information can be found in the paper published in BMC Medical Education on the Framework.
The CPCET Standard Framework for Advance Care Planning for Children is an appendix to the main CPCET Education Standard Framework. The advance care planning proficiencies have been designed to be used in conjunction with CPCET Education Standard Framework and adopt the principles set out in the Framework. They are not intended to replace an employer’s process of certifying individuals as proficient to design and record Advance Care Plans (ACP) for children and their carers.
Self audit repository
A repository for the self-audits can be found below. It is hoped a future review of these will inform practice and education developments.
