Paediatric Palliative Care Stories Video Series

Dying is difficult in any language. The power of words, actions, and human behaviour can have an enormous impact on the way families experience their palliative care journey.

This series of videos draws upon real-life experiences; we hear from families as they reflect on their child’s life and the palliative care they did (or didn’t) receive. This series of 10 conversations is real and raw, you will hear it ‘straight’ and learn what works, what doesn’t, and how the care and communication offered can be better.

The Paediatric Palliative Care Stories video series comes from the Australian Paediatric Palliative Care Conference (APPC) that was held in October last year. At APPCC, the session was called ‘The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly’ and our aim was to highlight the real-life experiences of families, as a way of highlighting the importance and impact of communication by health professionals.
