Brief description of organisation

The Association “Porque Viven” (Because they live) is a non-governmental organisation working within Spain in the promotion and development of Paediatric Palliative Care, founded in 2009.

It was initially founded to support the work of the Paediatric Palliative Care Unit of the infant hospital Niño Jesús (baby Jesus). Paediatric palliative care patients suffer from incurable diseases and are often nearing the end of their lives. Palliative care is a way to provide people-centred assistance: for the children, their families and the professionals who care for them. The Association “Porque Viven” helps to support and provide integral care to both children and their families. Our purpose is for paediatric palliative care patients to live lives as full as possible until the end of their days.
