The Paediatric Pain and Palliative Care Unit, University Malaya and Hospis Malaysia would like to invite participants to our inaugural Paediatric Palliative Care Symposium on Sept 9th – Sept 11th 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We present a great line-up of speakers, each experts in their respective fields to align with the symposium’s themes; Perinatal and Neonatal Palliative Care and Narrative Medicine in Palliative Medicine and Clinical Care.
The first 2 days of the programme is aimed at providing an enriching experience learning experience for participants by taking a more in-depth look at topics related to care provision for foetuses and infants with life limiting diagnoses and their families. Topics would cover suffering, grief, hope, spirituality and ethical challenges in the context of perinatal and neonatal palliative care. There would also be sessions covering the more practical aspects including skills on shared decision making making, withdrawal of life-sustaining interventions, bereavement support and the inside scoop on setting up a perinatal service.
Day 3 introduces the concepts and application of Narrative Medicine a comprehensive approach using narrative skills that allows providers to provide effective health care through better understanding of their patients’ illness experience.
